Partnership Announcement - Versa Movement Collective

We wanted to take this time to introduce the Versa Movement Collective to our community!

The team at Versa Movement Collective is dedicated to keeping Alberta’s tri-athletes injury free. We have a dedicated staff of experienced Physiotherapists and fitness professionals that are well versed in the disciplines of swimming, cycling, and running. Physiotherapist Evan Baldwin has worked extensively with many recreational and elite runners in the Calgary area over the last 10 years and is frequently invited to speak to running groups about the prevention of running injuries. Evan is also an avid cyclist and is happy to chat about all aspects of biking with anyone who will listen. Physiotherapist Mat Thompson grew up on the East Coast of Australia and his love of swimming took him to the semi-professional level in his swim-obsessed home country. Mat works with swimmers of all levels on a daily basis and is a frequent guest speaker at swim clubs around Calgary. Scott Lahey is our Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist who works with elite athletes in many different sports including triathlon. His focus on facilitating high quality movement patterns allows his athletes to train efficiently in the gym without compromising the rest of their training. We understand the nuances of keeping our athletes injury free and if injuries occur we understand what it takes to get back better than before.

We don’t guess, we assess. We start by assessing an athlete's mobility, strength, and overall movement as they relate to the individual disciplines of triathlon. From there, we assess an athlete’s running gait to tease out underlying asymmetries and evaluate overall efficiency. The ability to detect asymmetries in an athlete is critical to building programs that improve performance and prevent training injuries Our unique approach to gait analysis allows us to record data both on the treadmill and while running outside. We are also able to measure muscle activity (EMG) in key lower extremity muscle groups in order to evaluate overall muscle activation and detect side to side differences. Once all of the information has been gathered we implement solutions to the problems we find. This is done as a collaborative effort between our Physiotherapists and our Strength and Conditioning Coach to build treatment and strength programs that address the deficits and/or imbalances measured during our evaluation process.

If you have any questions please do not not hesitate to contact us. We’d be happy to chat and help you achieve your triathlon goals for the upcoming season and beyond.
