Officials Feature - Mike Chui

Mike Chui who is based in Calgary, has been an official in the province of Alberta and represented at international events for many years and athletes will be sure to see him volunteering at events over the summer. He’s also volunteered with the Kronos Triathlon Club as well as for the Triathlon Alberta Board of Directors over the years. We asked him a few questions so that our members had a chance to get to know some of our officials throughout the year.

How did you get into triathlons/officiating? The University club required a technical official on their board and I signed up.

What are your goals for the sport? Active to life and identify improved competition in the province to enhance athletes and stakeholders experience with the sport.

Any other fun facts: I had the privilege to represent Canada at the Pan American Games in Toronto and alternate for the Youth Olympics. The most memorable race was the Edmonton World Cup in 2013 when I was literally driving away from Calgary towards Edmonton just as downtown was being evacuated.
