Triathlon Alberta Suspends All Programs, Clinics, Camps and Events until April 30, 2020

MAR 13, 2020

Edmonton, Alberta - Triathlon Alberta would like to thank the triathlon and multisport community for their ongoing patience and cooperation during this turbulent time. This is a difficult time for everyone, and the world of sport is taking decisive measures to be proactive in limiting the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In alignment with Triathlon Canada and our Provincial Partners, Triathlon Alberta has made the difficult decision to suspend all Triathlon Alberta programs, clinics, camps and sanctioned events until April 30, 2020. Hence, the following programs, clinics, camps and sanctioned events are cancelled:

  • March 28/29: Triathlon Adult Community Coaching Course, Red Deer

  • April 4: Provincial Technical Official Course, Calgary

  • April 4: Age Group Training Camp, Calgary

  • April 18/19: Provincial Program Development and Performance Camp, Calgary

  • April 26: Provincial Technical Official Course, Red Deer

  • April 25/26: Triathlon Adult Community Coaching Course, Edmonton

Participants will be contacted shortly and refunds, less processing fees where applicable, will be issued as soon as possible.

As the situation is changing rapidly in Canada and around the globe, we felt it was most prudent to ensure we as a sport are doing our part to protect our communities and fellow vulnerable citizens during this unprecedented time.

This suspension may be extended upon review of the global and national situation in the coming weeks. The decision has been made in keeping with the current federal and provincial recommendations around mass participation events and large public gatherings.

In regards to club activities, Triathlon Alberta clubs and club members need to defer to their local municipalities and facilities and the recommendations laid out by them, as well as to use their best judgement for the safety of their families and club members.

In regards to travel outside of Canada, we ask that everyone follow any provincial and federal recommendations.

We will continue to provide regular updates in the coming days and weeks, as they become available and as the situation changes.

Key Recommendations:

  • Work within the directives of your provincial governing bodies and provincial public health agencies to guide your participation in club and training activities

  • Adopt or continue to follow the social distancing protocols provided by the federal government

  • Limit all non-essential international travel, and self-isolate for 14 days upon return to Canada
