Triathlon Alberta Announces First Draft and Tentative 2020 Event Calendar

Edmonton, Alberta - Triathlon Alberta, the recognized Provincial governing body for Triathlon and Multisport (Aquathlon, Aquabike, Duathlon, Offroad, Long Course) in Alberta, is pleased to announce its first draft and tentative 2020 Event Calendar. The races below are the only sanctioned triathlon and multisport races in the province of Alberta.

Triathlon Alberta is committed to ensuring that safe, high-quality events are held throughout the province of Alberta. Participants are ensured when participating in one of our events:

• It has undergone a risk assessment by Triathlon Alberta and met the required safety standards

• Everyone participating in the event (whether if you are an annual member or an individual with a day of race licence) is covered up to $5,000,000 for liability

• All participants, volunteers, officials, race staff and sponsors are insured

• That the event is safe and fair for everyone involved

• International Triathlon Union (ITU) rules will be used unless Triathlon Alberta deems otherwise

• Race formats and distances conform to Triathlon Canada’s Youth Guidelines and are consistent with Canada’s Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD) Strategy

• Only sanctioned events have access to Triathlon Canada's Trained and Professional Officials

All triathletes participating in a sanctioned Triathlon Alberta race must have a day (trial) or annual Triathlon Alberta membership. As a not-for-profit sports organization, all revenue generated from membership will be invested back into promoting and growing triathlon and multisport in Alberta, through our programs and services such as:

• Age Group Camps - Beginner and Advanced

• Draft Legal Certification

• Ride the Velodrome Clinics

• Tri-a-Tri Days

• School Programs and Events

• Provincial Program

• Club Sanctioning

• Event Sanctioning

• Officials Courses and Development

• Coaching Courses and Coach Development

• Insurance - Liability, Accident, 24/7, Bike, Travel

• Major Games - Alberta Summer Games, Alberta Master Games, Western Canada Summer Games, Canada Summer Games

• Age Group World Championships
